Lying & Deceit

I wish you could tell what people really though and really felt, because words really are fickle, lies are easy to tell, we all know that. Everyone's told a lie at least once, even if it was to make someone feel better.. however, I think we all want others to be truthful; yet none of us are…. Isn’t that peculiar? I suppose it stands to reason though.. none of us ever want to be in the vulnerable position; we all want to be in the powerful place. The state obtained by having, in this case, knowledge about others, and being able to dangle it over their heads if the occasion so calls for that, but of course, none of us would ever do that, right? Or are we just lying to ourselves, like everyone else? But then, if everyone had this mysterious ability allowing us to know each others true thoughts and feelings, it would be a standard. And then no one would be powerful, we would all be exposed equally… So what we all want is something that would be meaningless if we all had it… interesting…

Nevertheless, would that power be a bad thing? If everyone was honest about what they thought and said, then the world would be a better place, wouldn’t it? No one would be able to betray anyone else, people wouldn’t have to wonder what their friends were really thinking of them.

There would be no deceit; think about how many sins would be eradicated from the world? We would be so close to a utopia! There would be no adultery, no cheating, no lying, no betrayal… life would be so much better..
